A firefighter died during the response to the fires that broke out at 676 points, spreading from Canada’s British Columbia region to Nova Scotia in the east. The firefighter, who was hospitalized after getting injured in the British Columbia region, lost her life in the hospital. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences to the relatives of the personnel on social media.
It was stated that 8.8 million hectares were turned into ash in the fires in the country. The largest area to have been wasted by fires was recorded at 7.6 million hectares in 1989.
