Amidst Israel’s 70-day blockade and attacks on Palestine, Palestinians continue in their religious practices under the shadow of Israeli restrictions. The 10th Friday prayer at East Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque took place under Israeli control, with some Palestinians barred from entry and facing forceful intervention. Israeli forces used gas bombs and water pressure against those prevented from entering, while also resorting to violence against a journalist documenting the events.
Andriy Portnov, former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid’s upscale Pozuelo de Alarcon district. Spanish authorities say unidentified gunmen opened fire as the 52-year-old was dropping off his children at school, striking him in the back and head before fleeing.
Portnov, a former MP and lawyer, fled Ukraine with Yanukovych in 2014, briefly returned in 2019, and was later sanctioned by the U.S. for alleged judicial corruption.
