On Wednesday night, state of emergency declared in Kazakhstan after protests against fuel price increase, turned into violent acts. Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan are its member countries, temporarily deployed peacekeeping force to Kazakhstan upon the request of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Wednesday. On Thursday, Spokeswoman for the Kazakh Police Saltanet Azirbek noted that demonstrators attempted to attack buildings in Almaty city during the night and the attackers were neutralized. Also it’s been reported that dozens of vehicles were set on fire and shots being fired during the protests. According to statement released by Almaty Police, it’s been told that dozens of people died during raids at government buildings. In the statements, also it’s been remarked that total number of law enforcement officer casualties rose up to 12, while 353 law enforcement officers injured during the clashes between demonstrators. Meanwhile, government media described the incidents as a terror act, while it’s been narrated that a dead Kazakh police officer had been found decapitated.
