At least 13 civilians were killed and 57 others injured after an electrical malfunction triggered a massive explosion at an army ammunition depot in the Musaga district of Bujumbura, Burundi. The blast leveled military facilities and caused extensive damage to nearby civilian homes and vehicles in the densely populated area. Military officials confirmed that three soldiers are among the wounded and significant defense equipment was completely destroyed. The sheer force of the explosion scattered dangerous shrapnel and debris up to five kilometers from the blast site.
