13,000 Evacuated as Mayon Volcano Activity in Philippines

Mayon Volcano in Albay province, Bicol region, Philippines, has been emitting ash and smoke for a week, leading to the evacuation of 13,000 individuals from nearby areas. Authorities anticipate a further rise in volcanic activity, prompting additional evacuations in the coming days. The Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported 21 tremors and 260 rockfalls around the lava-flowing volcano in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, designated viewing points have been established for tourists to observe the volcanic activity, as the alert level was raised to 3 on June 8.
