Authorities reported that 139,000 acres of land across the US state of California have been reduced to ash so far due to the forest fires that started on Tuesday in the Butte region. Approximately 28,000 people in the were evacuated.
“There has been a significant decrease in the severity of the fires and some residents may be allowed to return to their homes,” Oroville Mayor David Pittman said.
