Iran’s annual “Chaharshanbe Suri” festivities, marking the last Wednesday night of the Hijri Shamsi calendar year, concluded with unfortunate outcomes. Jafar Miyadefer, President of the Iranian Emergency Aid Organization, reported casualties resulting from the celebrations leading up to the Newroz Feast. Over a three-week period, beginning February 20 with preparations, and culminating in the March 12 celebrations, 14 individuals lost their lives, with 3,253 sustaining injuries. Miyadefer noted that among the injured, 189 individuals suffered limb amputations, while 981 endured severe burns, and 1,070 sustained eye injuries, with one undergoing eye removal surgery.
