The bush fires that broke out in the Australian state of Victoria on Thursday and are being fought by around a thousand firefighters have not yet been brought under control. An area of 16,000 hectares and 3 houses in it have been burned down, countless farm animals have perished, and at least 2,000 people have left their homes so far.
Authorities estimate the temperatures will rise to 40 degrees on Wednesday and fear that the fires in the towns of Beaufort and Elmhurst will spread due to strong winds.
