Iran state television stated that an armed attack at a police station in the Zahedan city of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan state killed 19, including an intelligence commander of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Seyyed Ali Mousavi.
The attack came after the allegation that a police officer molested a 15 years old girl. Throughout the firefight between the protestors and the security forces, some state banks, public buildings and the vehicles that belong to the security forces were flamed.
According to CNN International, US intelligence officials refuted Israel’s claims that Iran is nearing nuclear weapons capability. The report, citing four US intelligence sources, stated that Iran is not actively pursuing a nuclear weapon and would need at least three years to produce one capable of striking a target. It also noted that recent Israeli attacks may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months. While damage was done to the Natanz facility, the Fordow site remained largely intact. Experts emphasized that significant damage to Fordow would require US military involvement.
