With the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality, the demolition of 35 buildings started in Türkiye’s Diyarbakır province, which were heavily damaged due to the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
During the demolition of the Galeria Business Center and a building above it in the Yenişehir district, it was found that there were cats inside. While the demolition was stopped, two of the four cats trapped in the rubble were rescued 17 days after the earthquake. Rescue efforts continue for the other 2 cats.
