A bear wandering around the town of Liptovsky Mikulas in Slovakia attacked people nearby. It wounded a 49-year-old woman in her shoulder and a 72-year-old man in his head. It was caught by the teams and released back into the forest.
Slovakia’s Environment Ministry announced that it will, together with Romania, present a proposal at the next European Union (EU) Council of Environment Ministers to remove bears from the list of protected species for hunting, as they are no longer endangered.
