The 236 personnel of Azerbaijan, which was one of the first countries to rush to Türkiye to provide support in search and rescue efforts, returned back to their countries.
“We have been in Kahramanmaraş province in Türkiye for 22 days. Our 114 soldiers are still serving in Hatay. We have 760 soldiers in Kahramanmaraş. As you know, we are taking some of our teams back as the search and rescue activities have been completed. Today, our 236 personnel are heading to Adana Airport to return to our country. On the first day of the earthquake on February 6, we came here and immediately set to work. We have rescued 53 people alive so far. Unfortunately, we found the remains of 755 people and delivered their bodies to their families,” said General Lieutenant Etibar Mirzyev, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.
