In the ongoing clashes in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), 300 children, including babies, have been evacuated from Khartoum and provided with protection. International organizations responded to the deaths of 71 children from hunger and disease in the conflict since April 15. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported that the children, aged between 1 month and 15 years, were transported to nursing homes in Wad Madani, accompanied by 70 caregivers. The ICRC emphasized the challenging conditions faced by the children during the conflict, including limited healthcare and essential services.
Since the conflict’s inception, clashes have resulted in 860 civilian casualties, including 190 children, while 71 children in the Al-Mayqoma orphanage in Khartoum have succumbed to hunger, thirst, and disease.
