Istanbul Department of Anti-Smuggling teams took large scaled action against people who buying and selling underground and aboveground historical treasures. As part of the investigation carried out, an operation was conducted against a suspect who was tracked in Ümraniye on 20 December. The suspect has taken into custody and also a search has been conducted in the operation. During the search, 3.124 historical coins were seized, which thought to belong to the Hellenistic period, early and late Roman-Byzantine Empire and Seljuk, Ottoman and ancient and pre-Islamic civilizations that ruled in Anatolia. Meanwhile, legal action has initiated against the suspect for the crime of “Opposition to the Law No. 2863”.
