On March 11th, 2020 Turkey announced the first coronavirus case. Turkey has left behind a year after the first cases of coronavirus.

More than 34 million PCR tests have been conducted, and at least 3 million diagnosed during the first year of the pandemic. While 29,160 people died, more than 2 million people have recovered so far.

Turkey was one of the country who took measures before than other countries in the fight against epidemics. After the increasing spread of the virus in Iran, Turkey closed its border with Iran on 23 February. Most of the hospitals in Turkey have been converted into pandemic hospitals.
