The fire, which started in the forest area of El Pinar de Puntagorda in the north of Spain’s La Palma Island, reached the southern town of Tijarafe. Authorities evacuated 4,255 people from the region. The Head of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands said that the fire was triggered by wind and climatic heatwave.
