On April 16, gunmen opened fire on 4 vehicles of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) officers in Mexican state of Chihuahua. It has been learned that the state police officers responded back to the armed attack and entered a gunfight with the gunmen. As a result of the gunfight, 1 police commissioner in the vehicle was injured and 4 people including 1 police officer died at the scene. Local authorities announced that AEI Commander Alejandro Dominguez Cabriales, who was injured in the attack, died on the way while being transferred to the hospital. It was also stated that another person who lost his life in the clash was a police officer named “Gil Manuel MS”. Meanwhile, no statement has been made yet about the identities of died 3 civilians. Eyewitnesses told that 2 police vehicles burned down after the attack.
On the other hand, it is being estimated that the armed attack was an assassination attempt against the AEI Commander by the organized crime groups. Officials announced that a comprehensive operation was launched with the participation of the Chihuahua State Police and Mexican Army and National Guards to find the attackers.
