Five fishermen, who were dragged for hundreds of kilometers in the Gulf of Mexico due to a failure on the boat engine broke out after sailing from the Yucatan state in the south of Mexico on October 23, 2022, were rescued around La Pesca offshores after 47 days. It was reported that the lost boat was found and brought to the shore by a shrimp boat.
According to the the first examinations, the fishermen were in good condition, but had fluid loss in their bodies.
The fishermen said that 2 days after the boat sailed, the engine failed and they drank rainwater to survive after the drinking water ran out.
The malfunctioning boat is estimated to have drifted more than 800 kilometers in the Gulf of Mexico.
