Six out of 12 climbers, including 2 guides, died on their way to climb the biggest volcano of Russia, Klyuchevskaya Sopka. Three out of 12 left the climb in a campsite at 3,300 meters height. The rest of the climbers, who continue climbing, fell from the snowy mountainside at 4,150 meters height. Five died and 4 injured after falling down the steep. After being rescued by Ministry of Emergency Situations, authorities stated that one of the injured casualties died while being taken to a hospital.
Investigative Committee of Russia started an investigation on the incident. It’s revealed that only 5 of the climbers had their license of climbing. Authorities will also investigate the neglection of public officers.
