A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture in Japan at 12.16 local time. It was reported that the earthquake, recorded at a depth of 40 kilometers, was also felt strongly in Iwate, Miyagi, Aomori and Akita prefectures. No risk of tsunami after the earthquake emerged.
