A 7.6 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean, 209 kilometers southwest of the capital, George Town, at 18:23 local time, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The International Tsunami Information Center reported that dangerous tsunami waves could hit on the coasts of the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico, Honduras, Bahamas, Haiti, Turks and Caicos Islands, Belize, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands and Saba in the upcoming 3 hours.
The US National Tsunami Warning Center announced that there is no tsunami risk for the US mainland, but tsunami waves could be seen in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
