Istanbul Department of Anti-Smuggling teams conducted a new operation against smuggled and fake liquor traffic in Silivri district of Istanbul city, Turkey. The operation came after the Department of Anti-Smuggling determined that a gang making preparations to introduce illegally manufactured liquor into the market via places of entertainment and restaurants that’s sells alcohol in especially Aegean and south cities like Muğla and Antalya cities before new year. In the operation carried out on a truck in Silivri district, 7,716 bottles of illegal or fake liquor with a market value of 4 million Turkish Lira’s were seized. While the drinks loaded on trucks to be distributed to cities across the country were confiscated, 2 suspects related to the incident were taken into custody.

Thousands gathered at Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque in Istanbul at 06:08 to perform the Eid al-Adha prayer. As the mosque filled quickly, many worshippers prayed in the courtyard and surrounding areas. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Police Chief Selami Yıldız also joined the congregation.
