Some rivers overflowed in Japan’s Akita Prefecture due to heavy rains that have been hitting the country for three weeks. Two people were seriously injured in a landslide in the region. Floodwaters covered settlements and roads and sabotaged high-speed train services. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that Happo town and Oga city in the prefecture received record-level precipitation.
According to the agency, heavy rains will continue in the region until tomorrow.
