The forest fire on Rhodes Island continues unabated into its sixth day, prompting extensive evacuations of homes and hotels. A significant number of tourists are hastily making their way to the airport, while others are congregating on the beaches with their luggage. Numerous visitors on the beaches are awaiting seaborne evacuation.
To date, around 19,000 individuals have been relocated to safer locations. This massive endeavor is being reported as the largest evacuation operation ever undertaken by Greece.
