Buffaloes in Türkiye Cool Off in Special Ponds

Amid higher-than-average temperatures in Türkiye, buffaloes in Diyarbakır are cooling off in specially constructed ponds. The Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Rural Services Department created these ponds to help animals combat the recent increase in drought conditions. The ponds also support agricultural irrigation. The department has built approximately 164 such ponds over the last two and a half years, with plans to construct more, budget permitting. The use of these ponds has improved the animals’ health and boosted their milk and meat yields.
