Umut Can Gümüş, a young man living in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır province in Türkiye, found a meteorite fragment on his land after the meteorite fall that occurred on Saturday evening and was visible from the surrounding cities. Spotting the fragment due to its unusual appearance and extreme heat after a 4-hour search on the land, Gümüş immediately wrapped it in his shirt and took it home. After receiving confirmation from experts that the 500-gram stone was indeed a meteorite, he put the stone up for sale for 4 million Turkish liras (nearly $150,000).
