Heavy rains, caused by Storm Daniel, triggered floods in eastern Libya. While many vehicles were swept away by the floodwaters, one person died in the country. Numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the flooded areas. Transportation was disrupted in several areas.
As a precaution, Libya’s national oil company closed four of its oil ports.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced he would soon accept President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s invitation to visit Türkiye. Speaking in Brussels after meeting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Merz emphasized Türkiye’s strategic value to NATO and stated his commitment to strengthening the partnership. He added that the German government would soon decide on the potential shipment of fighter jets to Türkiye.
