Members of the environmental group Letzte Generation (Last Generation) organized a painted protest at the historical Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany’s capital. Activists painted the columns of the historical gate orange and yellow with spray paint and expressed their demands to stop the use of fossil fuels by 2030. The police detained 14 activists who participated in the protest and launched an investigation into the material damage caused to the historical gate.
The group said that people have to quit oil, natural gas, and coal by 2030 at the latest and that they will continue their actions unless steps are taken to stop the use of fossil fuels.
