antique Roman Bath in Parion Ancient City gets restoration

The sweating chamber (laconicum) in the Roman Bath, which was found during the 2008 excavations in Parion, the port city of the Roman Empire with a history of 2,700 years in Kemer village of Biga district of Çanakkale province of Türkiye, was restored to its original form. The ancient bath, which has a history of approximately 1950 years, was reopened to visitors.

“The structure of this bath differs from others in Western Anatolia because it has a sweating room, a section called ‘laconicum’. The first construction phase of the bath dates back to the second half of the 1st century AD. It is small but has a special place for Western Anatolia due to the architecture it reflects,” said Assoc. Dr. Hasan Kasapoğlu.
