The ‘Bull wrestling’ tradition, which was a part of the Yoruk culture in the Ottoman period, is still maintained in a few provinces of Türkiye. Thousands of bull wrestling enthusiasts in the Ula district of Muğla, one of the provinces, go to the first wrestling arena built in the country on weekends, despite the 35–40 degree heat. After fights, the owners of the winning bulls in the competitions, which are held in different height and weight categories, are rewarded with trophies.
In order to keep the culture alive, bull owners spend up to 10,000₺ on their bulls monthly.
