The Israeli army later announced that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had launched “Operation Iron Swords” against Hamas’ Operation Aqsa Flood. IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that more than 2,200 rockets were fired into Israeli territory as of 06.30 local time, and Hamas attempted infiltration by air, sea, and land.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who made a statement after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “The Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves against the terrorism of the occupying forces.”

Israel’s National Emergency Service (MDA) announced that at least 22 people have died so far in the attacks launched by Hamas. It is feared that the death toll will increase.
