Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023 after his 2022 World Cup victory and continued success with Inter Miami. Several other football awards were given, including the Kopa Trophy to Jude Bellingham, the Socrates award to Vinicius Junior, and the Yachine Trophy to Emiliano Martinez. Erling Haaland received the Gerd Müller Trophy for the best forward. Aitana Bonmati won the Golden Ball award for women, and Barcelona was named the best women’s club, while Manchester City won the men’s category for the second year.
The event also paid tribute to football legends who passed away recently, including Sir Bobby Charlton, Luis Suarez Miramontes, and Pele.
