Turhan Oğuz, a 68-year-old wooden boat builder from Sinop, Türkiye, overcame lymph cancer in 2019. He has returned to his beloved profession after undergoing treatment. Oğuz, who has been building boats since the age of 7, continues this tradition alongside his family. He uses a laminated wood system to conserve trees while crafting boats. Despite his cancer battle, he remains committed to his craft and is currently working on a 15-meter-long, 5-meter-wide boat set to be completed in a year. Oğuz’s dedication to boat building is rooted in his love for the sea and family heritage.
