A massive parade was organized for the Day of the Dead celebrations held in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. Thousands of people who attended the parade with colorful costumes and extraordinary make-up formed magnificent and entertaining scenes. Skeleton costumes and skulls known as ‘Catrina’ drew the most attention.
Mexico City Mayor Marti Batres said on social media that the celebrations were attended by 4.000 artists and 1.250.000 people, which was a new record.
The Day of the Dead was added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2008.
