In the state of Kerala in the south of India, 25 people were killed and dozens disappeared in the flood and landslide caused by heavy rains. The Indian army, air force and navy participated in the search and rescue efforts. Kerala state Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said all government agencies have been tasked with rescuing people in the affected areas and evacuating those living in areas at risk of landslides and flooding. The state government stated that shelters were established in the affected areas.
The Indian Meteorological Service (IMD) said today that light to moderate precipitation will continue for the next 24 hours.
