The US Department of Housing and Urban Development stated that the number of homeless people in the country increased by 12 percent compared to last year. According to the authorities, the number of homeless people, calculated at 650,000 in January 2023, has been the highest recorded number since the recording began in 2007.
The main reason for the homeless crisis is the increase in rents and the cutoff of aid provided during the coronavirus epidemic, say the authorities.
