Prime Minister Anwaarul Hak Kakar announced via televised address the ban on all New Year’s celebrations in a show of solidarity with Palestinians enduring severe Israeli bombardment since October 7. Kakar emphasized the catastrophic impact of the conflict, expressing deep sorrow over the unjust killing of unarmed Palestinians, particularly children, in Gaza and the West Bank.

“The Pakistani people and the Muslim world are profoundly saddened by the ongoing genocide in Palestine,” Kakar stated, highlighting the need for solidarity with Palestinians. He urged all Pakistanis to stand in unity with the oppressed Palestinians, declaring the ban on New Year-related events to symbolize this solidarity.

Kakar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to aiding Palestine and reiterated ongoing efforts to halt Israel’s violence, aiming to put an end to the bloodshed inflicted upon Palestinians.
