A session of Armenia’s Parliament turned violent as ruling and opposition deputies exchanged blows during debate over lifting immunity for opposition MP Artur Sargsyan. Sargsyan, accused of plotting terrorist acts and attempting to seize power, had his immunity revoked after a heated vote.
The clash erupted after Prosecutor General Arpine Vardapetyan requested the detention of Sargsyan, who is also facing charges alongside opposition deputies Artsvik Minasyan and Seyran Ohanyan. As Sargsyan exited the chamber, tensions escalated into a fistfight. Security forces intervened to break up the brawl.
