Nikita Zhuravel, the 20-year-old who burned the Holy Quran last year in Volgograd, appeared before a Grozny judge. The decision, made in Chechnya, sentenced Zhuravel to 3.5 years in prison after he was detained in May 2023. The hearing, attended by 13 imams who filed a complaint, addressed the spiritual values’ deep damage caused by Zhuravel’s actions.
