According to the unofficial results of the election held in Iran to determine the members of the 290-seat Islamic Consultative Assembly and the 88-seat Assembly of Experts, which is responsible for electing and supervising the religious leader, the participation rate was 41 percent. Even though the election period was extended three times, until 00.00 local time, only 25 million out of the 61 million registered voters participated in the election.
