An official ceremony was held in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, to commemorate the victims of the Tutsi genocide, which was committed by ethnic Hutu extremists against the Tutsi community and moderate Hutus during the Rwandan Civil War in 1994. The ceremony was attended by many Rwandan government officials, as well as officials from other countries, such as former US President Bill Clinton and former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
A total of 800,000 people were killed in 100 days.
