Pro-Palestinian protests, which started a week ago at Columbia University in New York, US and increased the tension between the university administration and students, spread to many reputable universities in the country. At least 570 people, including faculty members and students, were detained at New York University, Columbia University, Emerson College, University of Southern California, Yale University, University of Texas, Indiana University, University of Minnesota, Ohio State University and California State Polytechnic University.

Following the protests, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that an anti-Semitic wave was on the rise and that these actions should be condemned.
