Syrian Ahlam Albashir, who placed the bomb on the Istiklal Street in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district in a terrorist attack on 13 November, 2022, was sentenced to 1,794 years in prison. When asked to spare her last words at the hearing, Ahlam said that she would not defend herself and that she accepted the sentences and punishments.
Six people died and 99 others were injured in the attack.
Egyptian media reports that ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, are set to resume next week. Israel is awaiting Hamas’s response to the ceasefire offer.
Israeli and US delegations, who were in Doha for negotiations, have returned home for consultations. The current agreement being discussed includes the exchange of hostages and prisoners, with plans for further talks on a permanent ceasefire and the release of additional hostages.
