NASA launches new mission to discover extraordinary objects in universe

NASA has launched Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) mission from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The IXPE observatory is NASA’s first mission dedicated to measuring the polarization of X-rays emitted by the universe’s most extreme and mysterious objects – supernova remnants, supermassive black holes, and a variety of other high-energy objects, NASA stated. “We’ve added a new space observatory to our fleet that will shape our understanding of the universe for years to come. IXPE is going to show us the violent universe around us in ways we’ve never been able to see it.” Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA said.
