More than 10 firefighters injured during the efforts to extinguish the ongoing fire that started at night in the refinery, which also includes a fuel distribution facility and a bitumen warehouse, in the Guwayr region of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government. Three trucks dispatched to the region were also damaged.
Local press stated that the refinery had a license but did not comply with the Civil Defense’s security instructions set. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
