The storm, the first of the Atlantic hurricane season, struck near the US border, particularly impacting northeastern Mexico. Three fatalities were reported due to the storm’s impact. Governor Samuel Garcia of Nuevo Leon confirmed the deaths, including a 15-year-old boy who drowned in a river near Monterrey. Emergency teams are actively responding to the aftermath of the storm.
