A fire at Moscow’s Platan Defense Research Institute resulted in the deaths of eight people, with six trapped in the flames and two jumping from the building. The blaze spread to the 5th and 7th floors of the eight-story building. Over 40 fire trucks, two helicopters, and 40 personnel responded, covering 4,500 square meters. One person was seriously injured, and more than 120 were affected by smoke. The Russian Ministry of Emergencies led the rescue efforts, saving those who sheltered in stairwells.

In his speech, Zomlot praised Palestinian resilience, highlighting students from Gaza who secured scholarships despite war conditions. He said the flag-raising marks “the beginning of the next chapter” toward justice, freedom, and sovereignty, and called for an end to “genocide, ethnic cleansing, and occupation.”
