Caretta caretta babies hatched from their eggs as the spawning season began in the Alanya district of Türkiye’s Antalya. A record number of caretta carettas rushed to the waters from the protected nests on the beaches of Yeşilöz and Demirtaş.
Şahin, who has been voluntarily working for caretta carettas in the area for over 18 years, said that thousands of babies will meet the sea in the next two months and that the survivors will come back after 20–25 years and lay their eggs here.
