Landslide in Indonesian Gold Mine Leaves At Least 10 Dead

A landslide triggered by heavy rains struck a gold mine on Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island, resulting in 10 fatalities and leaving 40 people unaccounted for. National Search and Rescue Agency President Heriyanto reported that 164 personnel, including police and soldiers, are involved in the search and rescue operations. The teams trekked approximately 20 kilometers to reach the landslide site.

The landslide also caused damage to houses and a bridge in the area. This incident follows a similar disaster in May, where 67 people died due to floods and landslides in Indonesia’s West Sumatra province.
