The Mesopotamia Express in Türkiye, initiated by the Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO), has been recognized in Time Magazine’s list of the “100 Most Beautiful Places to Visit and See in the World.”
Launched in April with support from State Railways and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, the Mesopotamia Express conducted eight trips between April and June, hosting YouTubers, influencers, and other guests. These trips showcased Diyarbakır’s historical and cultural landmarks, as well as its rich gastronomy.
DTSO President Mehmet Kaya highlighted the significance of this recognition for Diyarbakır’s tourism. He noted that the Mesopotamia region, with its 12,500-year history and heritage of 33 civilizations, is an important but under-explored tourist destination. Kaya expressed hope that this accolade from Time Magazine would help improve perceptions and attract more tourists, both domestic and international, to the region.
